Marshals and Stewards at March for Men UK Events

Prostrate cancer claims thousands of lives each year but men have traditionally not always been good at seeking medical help. March for Men aims to start a national conversation about prostate cancer and the symptoms and how, when spotted and treated early, the prognosis remains good.

The March for Men events are organised locally, although there are four marathons in four days walked by Jeff Stelling. Routes can be anything from 2km up the 26km and you can join in with your own walk or one organised by Prostate Cancer UK.

Like all events, where people gather there need to be marshals to ensure that everything runs smoothly. Often the first to arrive and last to leave, the marshal team we provide recently made all the difference to how smoothly the March for Men event ran.

Why hire marshals for events like March for Men?

There are many practical factors that need organising for events such as March for Men which is why hiring a knowledgeable and experienced team of event marshals is essential;

• Traffic management
Managing traffic onto the site of your event will often fall to marshals. Following a designated plan, they will ensure the free flow into and out of your event as much as possible. They will also make sure that people are pointed in the right direction for public transport too.

• Car park attendants
Car park attendants are an integral part of traffic management, ensuring that the space available for car parking is maximised. They also contribute to the safety of the car park for users and can also stay in touch with the onsite event security team too. They can also make sure that disabled access is maintained and, if need be, that VIP parking is catered for too.

• Act as points of information
At large outdoor events such as March for Men, finding the information you need can be difficult. Again, our marshals in their highly visible uniforms acted as points of information, making sure people found the start line, as well as refreshment centres and onsite toilets.

• Refreshment points en route
With a visibility marked route, our marshals were on hand to make sure no one took a wrong turn as they ‘marched’ to raise awareness of prostate cancer. They also made sure that refreshments were available en route and any first aid needs were attended to as well.

• Encourage!
It doesn’t matter how long the course is, everyone needs encouragement to complete it and that’s exactly what our marshals provide every step of the way.

Proud of our association with March for Men

We are proud that our marshals were part of these UK events to raise awareness about prostate cancer and the symptoms that all men, irrespective of age, need to be aware of.
